There are some movie characters you watch once and remember
And then there are characters who somehow become part of the way you talk, joke, dress, think, or even annoy people around you 😭
Geet is definitely one of those characters
I don't even know how to explain her
She's loud
She's dramatic
She's confident for absolutely no reason
She can turn a five-minute conversation into an entire life story
And somehow, you can't even be annoyed with her for too long
Because underneath all that confidence and “main apni favourite hoon” energy, there's actually a very human person
Someone who feels everything loudly
Someone who gets excited easily
Someone who talks before thinking
Someone who makes plans like life has personally promised to cooperate with her
And honestly, who hasn't been a little bit like that?
Maybe not the running-away-with-someone-to-Manali part 😭
But the overconfidence
The random plans
The dramatic reactions
The “I know exactly what I'm doing” attitude while having absolutely no idea what's happening
We've all had our Geet moments
What I really like about Jab We Met, though, is that Geet isn't just the cheerful, talkative girl who makes everyone laugh
Her story changes
She makes mistakes
She gets hurt
She becomes quiet
And for a while, that larger-than-life version of her disappears
That's probably why the character feels more real than a typical “bubbly girl” character
Because people aren't cheerful all the time
Sometimes the loudest person in the room is also the one carrying things nobody knows about
And maybe growing up is partly learning that you don't have to lose your personality just because life becomes difficult
You can become wiser without becoming dull
You can become calmer without becoming someone else
Khud ko badalna aur khud ko samajhna, dono ek jaisi cheezein nahi hain
And then there's Aditya
The complete opposite
Quiet, lost, exhausted, barely interested in anything
And somehow, this extremely talkative human being enters his life and completely disrupts whatever little peace he had left 😭
But that's what makes them interesting
They don't just fall in love
They change each other
Geet reminds him that life can still be lived
Aditya, in his own way, gives her a place where she doesn't always have to perform happiness
And maybe that's why people still love this movie
Not because every part of it is realistic
But because somewhere between the comedy, chaos, songs and dramatic train scenes, there's something very relatable
Most of us have been Geet at some point
And most of us have also been Aditya
Sometimes we are the person who talks too much
Sometimes we're the one staring out of a window wondering what happened to our life
Kabhi hum kehte hain, " mujhe pata hai mujhe kya chahiye"
And sometimes we're just hoping someone helps us figure it out
Maybe that's the real charm of Geet
She isn't perfect
She's not supposed to be
She's just unapologetically herself, makes a hundred mistakes, gets lost, finds herself again, and somehow keeps going
And honestly…
Maybe we all need a little bit of that
A little more excitement
A little less fear of looking stupid
A little more “let's see what happens”
Because life can't always be perfectly planned
Kabhi kabhi thoda pagalpan bhi zaroori hota hai
So now I'm curious
