For most of the human history, our genes are considered something we simply had to accept.

We inherit our height and eye colour and certain helth issues and countless other biological trainst from our parents and ancestors. Medicine could trate sime diseases but it could not changes the instructions that caused them.

Gener editing is beginning to challange the limitation. Scientists can not modify certain specifications if DNA. And sometimes this almost sounds unbelievable. Changing the biological instructions inside living cells to treat it prevent disease.

Some genetic disease are caused by errors in DNA. In the future generations editing may allow doctors to correct thsoes errors instead of simply treating the symptoms they cause. This could change the treatment conditions that wer eince considered lifelong it incurable.

But general editing raises questions larger than science. If we can edit genes that percent serious diseases then should we? The answer that same people would say is yes.

But what happens when technology allows us to change or improve tarists rather than prevent illeness? Should parents be allowed to choose the child's height and intelligence and appearance or athletic ability it other characteristics?

At what point should medical treatment should become human enhancement?

These questions are not purely scientific. They involve ethics and inequality and personal freedome and access.

If gene Editing technology vecumse extremely expensive then it may be available only to Wealthy people. This could create a future where the rich can not only provide their children with better education and healthcare but also provide them better biological advantages.

The gap between groups of people can also become biological in addition to all the siacl and economic changes we have these days.

The ability to change life does. It automatically means that we can understand life completely. Frne editing may eventually help devastating diseasesbajd improving treatmentsvabd possibley extend human healthy lifespans. It may reforms agriculture and medicine and technology.

But With great power comes greater responsibility. Boundries should exist. Humanity should gone the ability to influence not only the environment around us not also the biological influence within us. The question will not be simply Can we edit this gene?. It will be should we? Who gets to decide?

The future if the gene Editing mat be one of the great medical breakthrough in human history. It may also become one of the greatest test if whether our wisdomem can keep up with our power.

As someone who has worked in this field, gene modification is not easy. It is not about changing the DNA. Right now it is focusing on identification of genes responsible for terminal conditions such as cancer. If these genes identified early on, terminal conditions can be prevented or cured. I would wholeheartedly support such cause.
