I Never Looked Up

I have a strange habit when I walk. I keep my head down. Not because I'm looking at my phone. Not because I'm texting someone.
Not even because I'm particularly tired. I simply don't look up. I walk with my eyes fixed somewhere near the ground moving from one place to another without really seeing what is between them. For some reason, I never felt the need to look.
There was always something more important to think about. Where I was going. What I had to do next. What happened earlier. What I needed to finish.
Looking around felt inne. Why should I look at random people walking past me? Why should I notice builder I've already seen? Why should I stare at trees, clouds, shops, roads, or someone's balcony?. Nothing was happening.
Or atleast, that's what I thought. Then today, I looked up. That's all. I didn't do anything extraordinary.
I simply lifted my head while walking. And suddenly, I realized how much I hadbeen missing. The sky looked different from what I had imagined it would. The trees were moving slightly in the wind.
People were walking around , each carrying their own completely separate life. Someone was laughing. Someone looked tired. Someone was talking on the phone.
Someone was walking alone.
A child was looking at something with complete curriosity. A person passed me for perhaps three seconds and disappeared. I would never know their name. I would never know where they were going.
I would never know what kind of day they were having . And somehow, that felt both beautiful and sad. There were so many lives happening around me that I had never noticed. People were falling in love, worrying about money, rushing to work, waiting for someone, recovering from something, celebrating something, silently struggling with something.
And I was just walking past them with my head down. That was the tragic part. The world wasn't empty.. I simply wasn't looking.
I suddenly understood how easy it is to move through life without actually experiencing it We don't always miss things because we're busy. Sometimes we miss them because we've decided they aren't worth noticing. We walk through the same streets for years and stop seeing them.
We sit beside the same people and stop observing them. We watch the same sunset and forget that it is happening. We become so familiar with our surroundings that they become invisible And maybe that's what happened to me..
I wasn't avoiding the would. I had simply stopped being curious about it. Looking up today didn't reveal anything extraordinary.
There Wasn't a spectacular sunset waiting specifically for me.There wasn't a spectacular sunset waiting specifically for me. There wasn't I some movie like moment.
There was just an ordinary World doing what it always does. And somehow that was enough. It made me wonder how many beautiful things I've walked past because I was too busy looking down. How many people have crossed my path without me ever nothing them.
How many ordinary moments became memories for someone else while I didn't even realize they were happening. Tomorrow I'll think about something else.
I'll put my head down. But maybe I'll remember to look up occasionally.
Because the world doesn't always announce the important things . Sometimes they are simply there.
Waiting for us to notice. And perhaps the saddest thing isn't that life is full of ordinary moments. It's that we can spend an entire life surrounded by them without ever looking.
When you walk through a familiar place, do you
