Mumbai Hostel Life: A Whirlwind of Selves
Being a first-year student in Mumbai and staying in a hostel feels like living multiple lives at once. Some days I feel super independent and confident, ready to conquer the bustling city, explore new corners, or nail a presentation. Other days, I just miss home, my comfort zone, and my mom's cooking. It's a constant push and pull between these two feelings.
Everything moves so fast here – the city, the college schedule, the social scene. It can get mentally exhausting trying to keep up with demanding classes, navigating new people and friendships, and managing unspoken expectations from family and myself. The sheer pace of life here is intense.
Hostel life, despite its challenges, has definitely taught me a lot. I've learned:
• How to adjust to shared spaces, different routines, and constant noise.
• How to communicate effectively with roommates and friends, even when it feels awkward or uncomfortable.
• How to set boundaries for my study time, personal space, and even saying "no" to social plans when I need to.
I'm still very much figuring out how to strike a balance in academics, social life, and my own well-being. It's a daily learning curve, but I'm slowly learning what truly works for me in this vibrant, chaotic new chapter.
