Who are our favourite people?
Whom we absolutely care about,
Who matters to us in a world obsessed with
Constant updates and digital validation.
We often mistake proximity for depth.
To know how anchored someone is in our life,
Surrender them to the natural flow of time and distance.
Let them completely drift out of our sight.
Days blur into months, months fade into years,
And entire seasons change without a single glance or conversations.
We consciously make no effort to bridge the distance
Or force a meeting with them.
True bonds do not require artificial life support.
Then, when we accidentally cross paths
With them on an ordinary day, in a crowded park
Or a busy transit stations, watch their raw unscripted reactions.
If the sudden sparkle in their eyes, genuine smile on their lips,
And their unfiltered joy make us love ourself more,
We can be absolutely certain - that person is
As dear to us as our own life.
That unforced glowing reflection of our worth
In their eyes is the ultimate truth.
We don't need daily assurance or constant presence
To sustain a bond this pure.
You can be sure of their place in your soul
And that person is undeniably your favourite.
