what suddenly happened to good old horror/gore/slasher movies and where are they now?

From the year 19th century till now ,we have seen various movies for various occasion ,But one genre that stick with everyone is Horror genre .Whenever we talk about horror movies the first movie that come to mind is Texas chainsaw massacre.That movie changed and reframed horror genre forever .Whenever we talk about horror movies the first festival that comes to our mind is Halloween the spooky season of the year .It always is a reminder that it’s fun to cosplay to pretend to be Ghost .Its not really that widely celebrated all around the world but it’s really popular in the us and Europe .Its staring to grow its culture in India aswell as we see many major cities hosting Halloween parties 🥳.But when we think about Halloween festival the movie of Jamie Lee Curtis ‘Halloween ‘ also comes to our mind .That movie reshaped the whole concept of Halloween . Nowadays wherever you go you will se someone dressed up as micheal myers ,the main character from that movie or Someone with a small chainsaw pretending to be the person from Texas chainsaw massacre.These are not the only movies that reminds us of the spooky season. Another pioneer of scary movies are the movie SCREAM FRANCHISE ,FRIDAY THE 13TH and THE NIGHTMARE ON THE ELMSTREET. these type of movies attracted audiences so much that even when it’s not the spooky season of Halloween ,we all love to dress up like them and let them know thier movies did had an huge impact on the Halloween. The movie Friday the 13th had such a unique concept along with Halloween ,a mere mortal human possessing ultra human strength (maybe Jason from Friday the 13th wasn’t human but Michael myers was) was a huge concept people loved and were so amazed to see because both of these characters posses some similarities , like carying a weapon ,wearing a mask and harming everything coming in thier way .but one thing that stood up with micheal myers was that he had hate at such a level that it made him stronger than anyone around him .He used to terrorise people during the day and night ,just a glance at him and it was enough for someone to run away directly .Whenever someone saw Michael ,their first instinct was not to run away a ,but to runaway as far as possible because even police were afraid of the guy so there was no point running towards them . that guy has survived soundless attacks on him like gunshot ,being stabbed with knife ,setting him on fire alive ,hitting him with a car ,but it does not seems to work on him. All these characteristics are also in the characters like SAW TOOTH FROM WRONG TURN FRANCHISE ,masked guy from
Scream (only because the killer kept on changing every hour) .micheal only appeared during Halloween season to attack on people from his town .He is not only a legend (in a extremely wrong way but also a symbol of terror )
These types of movies are always facsinating to watch because they keep audience hooked ,and keep them wondering and have an impact of people even after the movie is over .
