I woke up on Monday morning with a clear plan to become a responsible adult. I would wake up early, clean my room, finish my work, drink enough water, and stop wasting time on my phone.
By 10 a.m., I had accomplished absolutely nothing except discovering seventeen new reasons why I deserved a break.First, I decided to clean my room. I picked up a shirt from the floor and found a ₹20 note in its pocket.
Suddenly, cleaning felt like a financially rewarding career. I searched every pocket in my cupboard like an archaeologist searching for ancient treasure.
I found two coins, an old bus ticket, a hair tie, and a chocolate wrapper. No more money, but apparently, my room was a historical museum. Then came breakfast.
I opened the refrigerator, stared at its contents, closed it, and walked away. Thirty seconds later, I returned and opened it again, hoping the food situation had improved through divine intervention.
It hadn't.I settled for biscuits and tea, congratulating myself on making a practical decision.Next, I sat down to work. I opened my laptop, arranged my notebook, picked up a pen, and took a deep breath.
This was it. Productivity was finally about to enter my life. Then I remembered I needed to reply to a message. One message became five conversations. Five conversations became scrolling through old photographs. Old photographs reminded me of an embarrassing incident from three years ago, and suddenly, I was lying on my bed questioning every decision I had ever made.
My brain had somehow opened twenty-seven tabs, and none of them were responding. At lunchtime, my mother asked me what I had done all morning."Quite a lot," I replied confidently."What exactly?"
I paused."Personal development."She looked at me the way a scientist looks at a failed experiment.By evening, I decided to exercise. I watched a ten-minute workout video and spent fifteen minuteschoosing the perfect playlist. After completing approximately four exercises, I lay down to recover like an athlete who had just won an Olympic medal. And that was when I realised something important.
Being an adult wasn't about having everything figured out. Sometimes, it was about pretending you knew what you were doing while secretly searching, "How often should you wash a bedsheet?"
Anyway, tomorrow I am starting fresh.I've already made a schedule, selected my outfit, filled my water bottle, and set three alarms. Now I just need to stop procrastinating long enough to actually go to sleep.
Wish me luck.My brain has officially submitted its resignation letter, and unfortunately, I'm the manager responsible for approving it.

I write about the little things we often ignore—the quiet thoughts, ordinary moments, and emotions that stay with us long after the day ends.
