The fear lives on

The sky was beginning to turn grey.
Ethan and Jake walked silently through the trees, following the faint path that led out of Blackwood Forest.
Neither of them spoke.
After everything they had seen that night, neither knew what to say.
Finally, Jake broke the silence.
“So… that's it?”
Ethan glanced at him.
“What?”
“The forest. Elara. The curse.”
Jake looked back at the darkness behind them.
“We broke it, right?”
Ethan didn't answer immediately.
He looked down at his hands.
Then at the notebook tucked inside his backpack.
“I think we did.”
They continued walking.
A few minutes later, the trees began to thin.
Sunlight appeared between the branches.
And then—
they stepped out of the forest.
Jake stopped.
He looked at the road ahead.
Cars were passing.
People were walking.
Everything looked normal.
Almost too normal.
Jake let out a slow breath.
“We actually made it.”
Ethan looked back at the forest one last time.
The trees stood completely still.
No whispers.
No footsteps.
No shadow.
Nothing.
Ethan turned away.
“Let's go home.”
Three Days Later
Blackwood Town had already started talking about the forest again.
Police had closed the area temporarily.
The old reports of disappearances were being investigated once more.
But nobody knew exactly what had happened inside.
Ethan and Jake didn't tell anyone everything.
How could they?
How could they explain Elara?
The ritual?
The black stone?
The voice that had followed them through the darkness?
So they kept most of it to themselves.
Life slowly returned to normal.
Classes continued.
Students laughed in the hallways.
Teachers complained about assignments.
And for the first time in days—
Ethan almost believed it was over.
That evening, he sat alone in his room.
His backpack lay on the floor.
He pulled out the old black notebook.
The same notebook that had guided them through the forest.
He opened it.
Every page was blank.
Ethan turned another page.
Nothing.
Another.
Nothing.
He smiled faintly.
“It's over.”
He closed the notebook.
But just before he put it away—
he heard a soft sound.
Tap.
Ethan froze.
He slowly looked down.
The notebook had opened by itself.
A single sentence had appeared on the last page.
His expression changed.
Written in dark, uneven letters were four words:
ELARA WAS NOT THE FIRST.
Ethan stared at the page.
His heartbeat quickened.
He turned the page.
Nothing.
He turned it back.
The sentence was still there.
He whispered,
“No…”
The bedroom suddenly became cold.
Then the words slowly disappeared.
The page became blank again.
Ethan closed the notebook.
This time, he didn't open it again.

One Week Later
Blackwood College was busy as usual.
A new student had joined the class.
He sat quietly near the back of the library, looking through some old newspapers for a history assignment.
One article caught his attention.
BLACKWOOD FOREST — DISAPPEARANCES REPORTED OVER SEVERAL DECADES
He frowned.
Then he noticed a photograph attached to the article.
A picture of the forest.
Something about it felt strangely familiar.
He leaned closer.
Suddenly—
a voice whispered behind him.
“Ethan…”
The student turned around.
Nobody was there.
He looked around the library.
Everyone else was busy reading.
He slowly turned back toward the newspaper.
The photograph had changed.
The forest was still there.
But now—
a tall figure stood between the trees.
The student stared at it.
His hands went still.
Then the old newspaper slipped from his fingers.
Behind him, somewhere between the bookshelves—
came another whisper.
“Ethan…”
The lights flickered.
Once.
Twice.
Then went out.
For a few seconds, the library was completely silent.
And somewhere far away, deep inside Blackwood Forest—
something opened its eyes.
The fear was never gone.
It had only been waiting.
THE FOREST STILL REMEMBERS.
The forest had been silent for days.
Elara was gone. The curse was broken.
At least, that's what Ethan believed.
But some secrets were never buried deep enough.
The first name was Ethan.
But whose name comes next?
After breaking a curse, Ethan discovers a notebook that says 'ELARA WAS NOT THE FIRST.' He then hears a whisper of his name. The forest is still remembering. He
