The history

I was too shocked to speak. This was a lot to process. Not only that it was a rumour but I was hearing the story from someone who had actually experienced that. This time it was not someone who was not educated but this was experienced by someone who was highly educated and knowledgeable. There was no doubt and I had to trust her.

"Why would this happen?" I finally managed to speak coherently and ask a sensible question.
"I have no idea about this. I believe it had to do with the history of this land. Of course none of us are aware of it. What I have heard from a few local is that this land was occupied by construction workers. Before this building this area used to be a warehouse. Something must have happened here which is leading to this incident. I even once went and checked in the police station if any case has been arising from this area. But I did not find anything. Maybe a crime occured but it went unreported. Something like this is not very common. But of course one thing is for sure that something heinous has occurred here and what we saw was a reminder to that story".

It was simply unbelievable. In a crowded metro city such crimes still take place and they go unreported. Of course this must have occurred decade ago and it was still a possibility that a crime like this was brushed under the carpet.

I was in my deep thoughts when she must have felt that I am starting to doubt her story, " if you do not believe me you can check with Sujit, he was present at that time. He saw exactly what I had seen. What both of us saw was definitely scary and I do not want anybody else to experience this. That is why I always tell everyone to leave the office before 7 o'clock. Anything can happen after 7 o'clock. What if what we saw was just the beginning? What is something terrible could have happened? Something terrible may still happen. I do not want any accidents happening in this office and that is why I tell everyone to leave the office on time. If anybody wants to continue to work they can go home and continue with their task but they should not wait in the office. Now that you know the entire story I expect you to leave the office on time".

Next day I spoke with Sujit. He narrated the similar story from his own point of view. He added some more details, " it was not just an entity. I think it was the spirit of a woman. To me it appears like a crime against one of the women who used to stay here. That day nothing happened to us but that does not mean nothing will ever happen".

That story ran chills down my spine. Not only that I was going to work in haunted office but it was haunted by the ghost of a woman who had been wronged.
