One other aspect that I absolutely adore about the decade of 2000s was the colourful clothing. During this time every store was filled with colourful clothing. Bright colours as well as pastels were easily available. And nobody had created the aesthetic that 'muted colors look mature'.

This is what I like the most about the clothing of this decade. The store was full of colour options. Bright colours and neon colours were dominating all the stores. The colour is were not only limited to clothing but also they expanded to the accessories as well. I remember seeing brietly coloured and neon colour handbags. I loved how these bold colours were making a statement. I remember seeing bright coloured shoes. I remember that each style was available in multiple colours. It was the decade when colors where the main characters.

I still remember during that time the college would look vibrant because everybody would be wearing colourful outfits. Women and girls have a vast variety of outfits and colours to choose from. But also men and boys equili had the opportunity to try out bright and neon colours. I remember how red colour had become a trend one particular year. One of the major chains stores had announced a red day where they were going to give a special discount to a customer who had been wearing red shirt, t-shirt, or Indian outfit. It was such a fun time when colours were available in everything. The world looked colourful and vibrant. Everything look energetic. Everything locked lively. Everything look as if it had its own character.

This trend of colourful clothes and accessories even continued in the decade of 2010s. Somehow in the mid of this decade someone decided that the importance to be given to muted colors. Suddenly some fashion house decided to run an agenda against the colors. Somehow colors became unesthetic. Somehow someone decided that if a person is wearing white, brown, beige, grey, colour they look elegant, sophisticated, and mature. The whole fashion scene suddenly shifted from bright colours to neutral colours. Everything started looking dull and lifeless. The clothes did not have their own identity or character. Everything started to blend with the surrounding with no opportunity to stand out.

And that is what bothers me. Everybody looks the same and dresses the same. While I was working at a major firm, I would see that all the women who had come for the interviews would dress up in white shirt and black trousers that differentiating one from the other would become difficult. Because they all looked the same, dressed up in similar attire having the same hairstyle as well. And one of the candidates I interview I even asked that why did you choose this outfit for the interview. She replied that based on her 'research' this was the most mature outfit that was suitable for interview.

2000s showed us how colours brighten up everything. Yes we were not afraid to wear bright and even neon colours. We were not afraid of standing out in the crowd. We did not want to blend in with the crowd.

I wish that the trend of neutral colours goes away and the bright colours return to the fashion scene once again.
