Chapter 1

Withdrawal

Withdrawal

After denial comes the part where you finally decide to stop.
You stop waiting for the message.you stop checking . whatever they are online you stop visiting their profile for absolutely no reason and pretending that you were "just curious". You tell yourself that this is it. You are going to move on.
And for approximately twelve minutes. It works.
Then your brain remembers that this person exists.
Withdrawal is strange because you are not necessarily withdrawing from the person alone. Sometimes, you are withdrawing from a habit. Their name may have become part of your daily routine. Checking whether they replied. Woundering what they were doing imagining conversations. Looking for signs that they cared. Even when nothing was actually happening between you . They may have occupied a surprising amount of space in your mind.
So when you decide to stop, your brain notices the empty space.
You don't check their profile in the morning, and suddenly you want to know what they posted. You hear a song and immediately thinking of them. Someone says a word they once used and there they are again, appearing in your head likeban unwanted, advertisement that cannot be skipped.
The frustrating part is that you may start wondering whether trying to forget them isaking you think about them even more. You tell yourself. Don't think about them.Naturally your brain responds by presenting a full slideshow of every interaction you have ever had.
But this does not nec mean you are failing to move on.
It may simply means that your mind is adjusting.
For a while thinking about them gave your brain something familiar to return to. There was anticipation. Hope Curiosity, Even disappointment became part of a routine. Removing that person from your thoughts can feel uncomfortable because your mind has to learn what to do with the time and attention that uses to belong to them.
This is also the phase where loneliness can become dangerous. On difficult days. You may not actually miss the person as much as you miss the feeling of having someone to think about. There is a difference. Sometimes we return to old attachments because the emptiness that follows feels worse than the attachment itself.
That is why withdrawal requires more than simply avoiding someone. You have to slowly build a life that does not revolve around resisting them. Fill your time, not as a distraction from your feelinga, but as a reminder that your life still contains things that belongs entirely to you.
The songs will eventually become just songs again. Their name will become just a name, The places connected to them will slowly become yours again.
Not immediately.
At first, everything may remind you of them.
Then oneday , you will go several hours without thinking about them.vLatter, an entire day.
And you may not even notice when it happens.
Because moving on is rarely the moment you force yourself to forget someone.
Sometimes, it is simply the moment your mind finally realized that it has other places to go.

Chapter 2

Denial

Denial

There is a particular kind of pain that does not begin qhenbyou lose someone . It begins when you slowly realize that you might lose them, but refuse to fully accept it. Instead of facing reality, you begin negotiating with it. You tell yourself that nothing is certain. Maybe they just need time. Maybe they are confused. Maybe that conversation did not mean what it sounded like. Maybe they will comeback. That single word -maybe-canbbwconw it allows you to keep a door open even when the other person may have already walked away.
Denial is not always dramatic. From the outside . Your life mY look completely normal. You continue going to college, talking to friends, laughing, eating and doing every you are supposed to do. But somewhere in the background, a part of you is waiting. Waiting for a notification.Waitimg for their name to appear on your screen. Waiting for something - anything - that will prove you were right not to let go. And when nothing happens, yourind becomes strangely creative. They looked at me differently. They liked my post. They were online at the same time as me. They didn't block me. Suddenly, tiny and meaningless details become evidence for an entire story your mind desperately wants to believe.
The strange thing about denial is that logic often remains intact. Deep down, you may understand the situation perfectly. You may know that they are not coming back or that things cannot work the way you want them to. You may even give your friends excellent advice about self-respect, boundaries, and moving on.Bit knowing something and accepting it are completely different things.A person can tell you directly that they do not want the same thing, and your heart may still search for another explanation. Maybe they are scared . Maybe they are going through something. Maybe they will change their mind.
Denial protects us from the full weight of loss. As long as there is a possibility. However small , we can keep alive the conversations we imagined having , the places. We imagined going together, and the version of the future where everything somehow worked out. Accepting reality means losing not only the person, but also the future we quietly built around them.
So we wait. Sometimes consciously , sometimes without even realizing it. Emotionally, we remain standing in front of a door, hoping it will open again. Perhaps that is what denial truly is - nor believing with complete certainty that someone will return but refusing to fully believe that they will not.
Eventually, reality dowsnsomething both cruel and necessary. It keeps happening . Days pass than weeks, then months. The message does not come. The situation does not change. Slowly, maybe begins to lose its power, and another question finally appears.
How long am I going to wait for something that may never choose me?.

Chapter 3

Reality

Reality

There comes a point when the story you have been telling yourself begins to fall apart.
Not dramatically There is no final scene, no sudden realization, no music playing in the background whole you finally understand everything. Reality usually arrives quietly. It arrives when you stop checking your phone every few minutes when you begin to notice how much energy you spent trying to understand someone who was never trying equality hard to be understood by you. It arrives when the silence stops feeling mysterious and starts meaning exactly what it is silence.
This is the phase where you begin to see the whole person again. During denial , they were full of possibilities. During withdrawal, they were everywhere because your mind had become accustomed to finding them on everything. N now, slowly the fantasy begins to lose its power. You remember the things that confused you, the moments that made you anxious the questions you constantly had to ask yourself. You remember that not every interaction was magical and not every silence had a hidden meaning.
And then comes a more uncomfortable question. Did I actually want them, or did I want the idea of being wanted by them?.
Sometimes a person becomes more than a person in our minds. They become a symbol. Being chosen by them would mean some. It might mean that we are attractive enough, interesting enough, lovable enough, or finally worthy enough. We imagine that if they looked at us the way we wanted them to, some uncertainty inside us would finally disappear..
But people cannot always carry that responsibility. Sometimes what hurts most is not losing them It is losing the future we invented around them. The conversations that never happened. The relationship that never existed. The version of ourselves we imagined becoming beside them. We grieve something strànge a memory of a future that only existed in our imagination.
Reality is pInful because it removes the beautiful editing .
You stop remembering only their smile and start remembering the uncertainty roo. You stop replaying the good moments while conveniently deleting the ones that made you feel small. You begin to understand that love - or whatever you felt - should not require you to constantly search for evidence that you matter.
This doesn't mean they were a terrible person. They do not have to be a villain for the situation to be wrong for you . Sometimes two people simply do not want the same thing. Sometimes one person cares more . Sometimes the timing is wrong . And sometimes painfully, the other person just does not choose your.
That is perhaps the hardest reality to accept.
You can be a good person and still not be the person someone wants. You can care deeply and still not be chosen. Their inability and still not be chosen. Their inability or unwillingness to chose you sows not automatically make you unworthy.
Reality does not always give us the ending we imagined. But it does give us something denial never could clarify.
And once you finally see things as they are rather than as you hoped they would become, you are no longer standing outside a closed door asking when it will open.
You can finally turn around and see where else you could go.

Chapter 4

Indifference

Indifference

Indiddernce sounds colder than it actually is . When you are still hurting, it can seem almost impossible. You imagine moving on as waking up one day and feeling absolutely nothing. Their name appears, and your heart does not react. You are them somewhere and walk past as though they were a stranger. But that is not really how it happens.
Indifference does not arrive dramatically. You may not even notice when it begins . One day you check your phone without woundering whether they have texted. You spend an entire afternoon doing something you enjoy and realize later that they never entered your mind. You hear a song that once had the power to ruin your mood, and this time, you simply listen to it.
Nothing hurts. Nothing explodes . Nothing happens.
And somehow that is when you realize something has changed.
For a long time, they were part of your emotional routine. A notification from them could change your mood.Their silence could ruin your day. Seeing them happy without you could make you question yourself. Without realizing it. You had given another person and extraordinary amount of power over your emotions.
Indifference is when that power slowly returns to youit sows not mean you suddenly hate them. It does not mean that everything you felt was fake. or that you have erased them from your memory . They may still be part of your story ,and you may even remember them fondly. But their existence no longer changes the direction of your day
Their name becomes just a name again. Their favourite song becomes a song . The places connected to them become ordinary places where you can create new memories . Eventually, you stop woundering what they are doing because your own life becomes interesting enough to occupy your attention.Pwrhaps that is what moving on really means. Not forgetting, Not pretending you never cared. Not turning love into hated just to make leaving easier. It is reaching a point as where you no longer need anything from them - no explanation no apology, no final message, and no proof that they ever cared.
Maybe one day, you will see their name unexpectedly, For aoment you might remember everything the waiting the hope, the confusion and the rights you spent thinking about someone who occupied so much space in your mind.
And then you will continue with whatever you were doing . You will not check their profile or imagine what could have happened. You will simply think Oh. I remember you
And perhaps you will smile- not because they came back , but because you finally understand that you no longer need them to.
